Imagine that... December again! Tomorrow will be one year since I graduated from college and I still miss it. Anyway, that's not the point of this pointless post. I've been playing around with my new camera (my old one was pushed to its limit at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe when it got soaking wet -- good thing I brought an already dying camera) and experimenting with f-stops and shutter speeds. I know very little about photography, so I've been looking up stuff through Google and Youtube and experimenting. As you can see from my very boring array of pictures, I went on a walk and played with the camera settings. By the way, if the lighting isn't just the way you want it, or if you don't get the depth of field the way you want it, there's always Picasa. :P Cheating, I know.

Some of the fun features of my camera include this one. It's called the miniature effect and it blurs the top and bottom of the picture to create... tadaa.. a miniature effect. I'm not sure how the miniature effect really makes it look miniature, but whatever. It's still cool.

And this is when I was experimenting with the lowest F-stop. Of course, since it's cold out, there wasn't much interesting to shoot other than dead trees... and dead leaves...

Having a 14.1 zoom lens is great! This bird was sitting near the top of a very tall tree, so I took a picture of it.

Grandmother was sewing curtains today. I showed her my new camera. She wanted to know if it also does email. Nope... that's just Andy's Android phone.

The other incredibly cool effect is the fisheye lens. It's great for big buildings, landscapes...brothers...

I decided I wanted to focus only on the foot, so I edited it in Picasa. :P

As you can see, I'm not very adept at this. However, it's fun to experiment and hopefully I'll get better at using it and also learn composition better.

It has been far too long that I've updated this thing. I was reminded of it today as I sat in the peace and quiet of my room... only to be interrupted by the sounds of Andy talking to himself while playing a new, and apparently "awesome" computer game. His conversation with himself was very choppy. It went something like this
"There... Oh me needs to... oh good one.. this.. this is precious.. daaaaah... tsk... needs to hold free technology... POWAH!!! what is THAT?"

Of course, if you had Facebook, you'd know the other comments that came after that. Two of the most comment-worthy snippets of conversation were as follows:
Your toothbrush is face down on the floor." Me

"That's gross." Me
"So? It goes face up on your teeth anyway." Andy
"Huh?!" Me

The things Andy does when he drives:
1. Ok I'm too nice and I won't put this one here.
2. Drives with one finger going "hey cool! I can drive with one finger!"
3. Turns on the airconditioner in the winter
4. Takes curves very fast saying "I love taking curves fast. This is such a cool car. Hey look at the guy in front! He keeps braking. It's nice having such a safe car." HUH?!?! When's he gonna see how far the limit is?!
5. Pulls up very quickly to a stopped car (even though the brake lights are clearly seen) and brakes in time or suddenly goes "oops!" and changes lanes quickly.

The things I do when I drive:
1. Take forever to pull out of a place (insert honking of horns)
2. Try to read the toll ticket thing without swerving into the next lane
3. Try to read directions while driving
4. Miss all my exits anyway
5. Make other cars mad cuz I drive on the speed limit (usually).

Well... Andy came clomping down the stairs at 1am and woke me up on Sunday night. Although he wanted to go home Sunday night because he was "so tired," he stayed up until 1 reading the space trilogy! Then he tried to sleep for an hour and couldn't, so he played games until 6:30. GOOD GRIEF!!! Anyway he had jury duty today. He said it was quite boring. Maybe if I never vote they won't call me. =) Teehee.

Andy went to school yesterday. He talked to a professor and studied or something... and then he went to the Carlsons and hung out there forever... he didn't want to leave, but I managed to drag the boy home. HAHAHAHA

And now he is doing HOMEWORK!!! At least he is sort of doing homework... he is gifted at battling circuit problems as well as evil skeletons. Such a gifted boy!
